Beyond the Prompt: College Essay Writing Virtual Workshop

Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

High school juniors: let's talk college essays!

For colleges, the essay not only provides an opportunity to evaluate your creativity, writing style and ability, but also says something about your outlook on life—your preferences, values, the way you think—and the experiences and people who have uniquely shaped you. But where do you start? What should you write about? How do you tell your story within the confines of a word limit? How does a college get to know you through your written work?

Join Dickinson admissions counselors for a workshop that will explain the purpose of the essay, debunk a few college admissions myths, and give guidance on how to approach the essay as a unique opportunity, rather than an obstacle, in the application process.
